How Ventilator Production Is Ramping Up Around The World
Me
Man, Elon Musk is a hero.
Nice engineering, when will this come to Bangaldesh
This is really awesome. Great to know how people can turn out to b creative and innovative during adverse times. Hattsoff to those on the frontline in fight against corona pandemic
As usual, they ignored the ventilators development in India!
@Queen Elsa the western media was so pained to mention the fact that HCQ drug for now has been proven effective to fight corona and the fact that India has a lot of it. They have ramped up a whole opposition to it. or
@Queen Elsa India has successfully tested multi-way ventilators amd ramped up it productions with indigenous designs. But you won’t find such mentions as media keeps on portraying the country as land of snake charmers.
What?
Tesla become great hero of all times.

We build a very cheap and simple ventilator toward facing the COVID-19 pandemic.

Please guys watch real engineering video about ventilators . Since most of these are PR GIMMICK by tech companies and nothing more than automated air-pump to lungs
But stupid channel forget to include Noida based company agva ventilators, Rajkot Gujrat ventilator manufacturer
While the intention behind all these DIY ventilator projects is undoubtedly good, there are very valid reasons why any medical device is subject to stringent certification and safety testing requirements before being allowed on the market. If someone I loved was sick I would hesitate to have them hooked up to one of these devices without fail-safes, adequate airflow monitoring & control etc.. etc… Hopefully some of the inventors may be able to take these designs to the next level and develop these further, to the point where these can pass the EU/FDA safety tests, which would indicate that these really be used in the highly demanding hospital environment.
It’s kinda odd that India ordering for Ventilators from Japan, we have comparatively few cases than Japan & we are under the curve till now…
Also we’re too making Ventilators thanks Tech Insider for not including it…
Don’t!
Their ego will get hurt and they would probably get your comment down , for stating the fact about any third world country!
Elon Musk is a god
Dysan, Tesla making ventilators? Seriously? Commenters below calling attention to the fragility of the human lung and the years that go into designing equipment and validation of those designs are spot on. But if anyone outside of the medical equipment industry is to be considered, I would suggest that Smith and Wesson join in. Heck, their products have been ventilating people for more than a hundred years.
Well done!
Thank You, Telsa ! 🚗

Countries/States with over 500 or more reported deaths listed above
Note: USA, CDC est. 42.9 million sick during the 2018-2019 flu season, 647,000 hospitalized and 61,200 died.
My Opinion: Mass public self-initiated testing will become a futile and wasted use of manpower and financial resources at some point. The public can be tested in the morning, go to work and come home infected. Also if a test does show that you now have the antibodies the possibility of reinfection is still undetermined. Testing is primarily valuable for doctors to quickly diagnose and isolate at their hospital. Countries and states with a death rate of less than 100 should continue testing ASAP to identify, track related contacts and quarantine people with the virus to mitigate it’s spread. States and countries with deaths over 100 should start to redirect their manpower and financial resources from mass public testing (without doctor direction) to implement more immediate value-added activities supporting hospital preparation, develop firm strategic protocol standards and outpatient service systems with any fast-acting treatments to mitigate hospital overload and stop hospital patients from getting to the point of ARDS which will require intubation and ventilator protocol as the last resort. These 2 invasive procedures are torturous and present extremely poor outcomes, particularly for the elderly! (the elderly must be aware of 2 choices they have and must consider giving DNI (Do Not Intubate) & DNV (Do Not Ventilate) instruction orders to their doctors!)
PLEASE STAY AT HOME AND SUPPORT ALL EFFORTS POSSIBLE TO SLOW THE EVENTUAL TRANSMISSION OF THE COVID-19 VIRUS. AVOID HOSPITALS, THEY SHOULD BE AN ABSOLUTE LAST RESORT. IF YOU ARE IN A LIFE THREATENING CONDITION CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR OR 911 (YOU MAY JUST HAVE AN ALLERGY, FEVER, COLD OR FLU AND YOU MAY END UP ACTUALLY BEING INFECTED IF YOU JUST WALK INTO TO A HOSPITAL AND WAIT FOR ASSISTANCE) ADVANCE NOTICE FOR HELP WILL BETTER SUPPORT EXISTING HOSPITAL PATIENTS AND SUPPORT DOCTORS, NURSES, STAFF & CAREGIVERS.

This is humanity.
Humanity as a whole is so dumb we wait until there’s a massive demand for something before we implement making enough of it. Instead of sports, missiles, and stupid unnecessary bullshit, try doing it right… There should be no starving people in the world and no disease. If people would just focus on the right things. Not even a hard concept to grasp. I guess five-year-old me was just way ahead of the curve… Pathetic really.
Real engineering squad, assemble!

Nope. I disliked this because these will cause more harm than good. Watch real engineeringa video.
We should give free ventilator to the world To save the people in the World 👍👍👍👍
*its not the bag squeezing that’s the problem, its the sensitivity to air intake by the lung’s alveoli. software control and pressure gauging are the most importants part of the ventilator. although they’re better than nothing, bag squeezers can ultimately cause more harm than good because they can break the alveoli in the lungs, leading to more serious problems.*
Engineers finally getting the recognition they need
Engineers, scientist, and introverts.
It’s good to see the people modifying the things to fight pandemic
love here tech lovers
This is so touching
If you lost a loved one to COVID19, please be proud knowing that they were a part of the human story of innovation and resilience.
So when it comes to pass we will have excess ventilators that will be useless
हम सुलूट करते है साइंस को
Glad to know a lot of people in the comments know about Real engineering’s video
Amazing. But I still can’t see why a manual hand operated ventilator cant be used by a survivor, so someone who has already had this. Very unlikely to get it again in the first 12 months if ever. Use the survivors as labour force to hand ventilate people. Save lives
@Martin Shepherd not infectious to someone who has already had it. And yes, a heap of vunteers on hand operated gear rotating shifts to stop people dieing. There are thousonds, 10s of thousands of survivors. Now immune. At least helping out in hospitals. Dont understand why it’s not happening
Are you seriously suggesting that someone stands by an infectious patient and hand ventilates them for days or weeks at a time?

In the midst of all the drama, death, politics, and other issues; it is beautiful to see the world uniting against this threat. It’s not a prefect union but beautiful nonetheless.
God damn it people need to understand the difference between ventilators and respirators. Interchange of this can cause serious damage.
people made ventillators out of interesting things. The only times in the past when ventilaltors were required to make were the polio epidemics. people made iron lungs out of wood and a vacuum pump, and i heard that the swiss figured out something from anesthesia bulbs through a tracheotomy
Tech Insider should have done proper research before posting this video. Unsubscribed.
https://youtu.be/CmuO-i2nFG8 Hey guys what do you think about this COVID-19 Short film movie? A little bit of hope I think!!
Not all ventilators are created equal and some may do more harm than good. Hope they are all well educated physicians.
We need to see this side of humanity more than the ones pointing fingers at one another
@Martin Shepherd We spend so much in it.
@Yautja Prime I understand war, but what’s wrong with sports?
We need to give up things like sports, war, and other bullshit and focus on what really matters. I’ve only been saying that my entire life lol
I made one out of a whip cream canister! but it is manual 😀
BAROTRAUMA – most of these “things” are too simple and do more harm than good.
Someones been watching Real Engineering’s video
Great technology ..fresh air is the best thing to gain let’s start to campaign on go green
Hopefully these guys design these things with all the requirements of a high end ventilator. Ventilators are more than just machines that push air into the lungs. They need to be able to monitor the patient and adjust airflow accordingly. And they have to be cheap enough to mass produce. Real Engineering talks about this in his newest video. You should check it out if you want to start making your own ventilators. Link: youtube.com/watch?v=7vLPefHYWpY&t=830s
I agree
Everyone watching this video, first watch Real Engineering’s video in ventilators to see why some of these won’t work
This one?
https://youtu.be/7vLPefHYWpY
@11I1I11I tl:de the damage is about the pressure imbalance between the alveoli (lung’s air sacs where oxygen comes in), and the air coming in. This is called Barotrauma
when too much air pressure is pumped into your lungs, it ruptures healthy alveoli.
When not enough air pressure is used, the existing air in the alveoli escapes, therefore rendering it useless.
This is important because the last thing we need is for Covid 19 patients to lose more alveoli when most of them are damaged from the pnumonia caused by Covid 19
So when a bad ventilator pumps air into your lungs artificially, there’s a pressure imbalance because the lungs don’t expand? I didn’t understand.
@blackham7 in other words… POP
wait do you guys not get that Tech insider is partially sponsored by tech companies.
Please use only FDA approved Ventilators because others will do more harm than good
True
It isn’t a choice between in use ones or these.
It’s these or none.
They are made by very smart people. One even by a ventilator company who really just has to make em more powerfull for human use.
It isn’t made by a group of high schoolers. It’,s made by engineers. They get the requirements for it. You just can’t do a bunch of trials and testing now. Or certification process since it has already proven good, so that it’s the same as. It’s this or nothing.
No choice
ELECTRIC CAR PARTS??? That’s so cool!
Amongst this crises, at least we can learn something. 🙂
many car companies around the world are using their car parts too
Really inspiring! 👍😇👏
what about mahindra….who are making ventilators in less than 100$
They dont want to show
Those 3d printed simple pump style ones with the emergency bag wont work. They would cause barotrauma in the lungs filled with fluid pushing pressure into the lung alveoli
Ok boomer
@332 223 uhhh nonhes just addressing the designs that will likely do more harm than good
Ok einstein
Pray for the doctors and nurses who are risking there lives to save somebody.
I wish speedy recovery for all the people who are affected by this coronavirus. Stay Safe and God Help us all.
Amen
Some of the ventilators shown can and will cause damage to the lungs as air is forced in without the care that real ventilators provide especially when patients are taken off of the heavy sedative they have to be on when a normal ventilator is used.
Edit: here’s a vid that can explain this better than I can in a quick comment.
https://youtu.be/7vLPefHYWpY
@S0LAR B0WL there isn’t that why it is hard to manufacture effective ventilators
I hope so or a lot of people are gonna have a bad time.
Exactly my thought people are confusing ventilators with respirators. Which can cause serious damage
Bane I would assume those were the rushed ventilators in the beginning and now we are making more high quality ones.
Anyway Better than nothing
Like to support those who are on the frontline.
